Have any of you TF2 fans seen these? These are redesigns of your favorite wacked-out mercenaries by a Swedish artist named Johan Wahlbäck. I totally dig the psuedo-futuristic tactical look.

Don’t get me wrong, the art’s great. Very polished and I’m sure there’s nothing wrong with doing this kind of thing for fun.

But man, I don’t even want to imagine a world where these were the actual designs for TF2. With a few exceptions as far as interesting silhouettes and details go (and the medic in general, very unique), these just go right back to being monochromatic military blah. Valve did the right thing by going for something more stylized, sensible, and marketable.
