(Don’t click if you’re not interested in stuff about HTTYD and an RP I’m in)
So there’s an RP group I’m in on Tegakie, and recently they posted the first big plot event, which is more or less “dragons have attacked a foreign ship and are now headed for our village, you’ve got to kill them or drive them off.”
Now I just want to be clear I’m not hating on this RP. It’s really nice and active and has a lot going for it, and I’m not super concerned with ~questioning the leader’s decisions~, but that doesn’t mean I can turn off my hypersensitive Crit Instinct.
W☭DKA: you know what
W☭DKA: you know what I’d do
W☭DKA: if I were in charge and the world were an ideal enough place for it to work
W☭DKA: I’d save this event for later because it has the potential to be /huge/. Think about it. These are the first generation of vikings being brought up (supposedly, not these people, but supposedly) tough and capable but /not trained to slay dragons/. Only the older people should know by heart how many shots a dragon breed has or that Monstrous nightmares can light themselves on fire, etc. A rogue group of dragons out of nowhere, possibly spurred on to violence from some deeper plot point to be revealed later, would be /a huge deal to these kids who don’t know what the fuck they’re doing/ and it’d be very dramatic getting the older people to keep the kids alive
W☭DKA: but no
W☭DKA: these kids are all bound and determined to be Special Snowflakes
W☭DKA: who magically know how to fight off dragons despite probably only having general combat training now that dragons are friendly
W☭DKA: and you know what else? if “the teachings of Hiccup” ACTUALLY were adopted by these people
W☭DKA: then we’d have HICCUP-BASED NON VIOLENT DEFENSES
W☭DKA: like dragon nip and eels and knowing their weak spots
W☭DKA: like /that would be the way vikings deal with dragons now/
W☭DKA: this whole “we love dragons so much and there’s a shitton of them here who are friendly—- oh but look some are attacking!!!!!! ONLY WAY TO SAVE THE TOWN IS TO KILL THEM” totally is self contradictory and ignores the point of HTTYD bringing a new way of thought to these people
W☭DKA: like what if this is someone elses beloved pet dragon???? what if they’re being driven to attack by a bad force???? it’s not morally right to just /slay/ them any more ESPECIALLY now that most of the dragon rpers are treating them as sentient beings rather than animals
W☭DKA: like I’m so tempted to just play an enemy monstrous nightmare in someone’s thread and as they slay him he sobs out for his human partner
W☭DKA: and his three hatchlings
W☭DKA: OH WOE IS ME I NEVER EVEN GOT TO TELL THEM GOODBYE…. DADDY LOVES YOU…
Like seriously the more I think about it, the more this event just jumps out as kind of stomping on all the development of HTTYD, lol. WE’RE LITERALLY GOING BACK TO THE VERY FIRST SCENE OF THE MOVIE… Groundhog Day / HTTYD crossover….
it to ed maybe I’ll sick steff
